Snooze? Lose! Why it's a good idea to get to know ProClaims now. All Property Cariers must be aware that the CDI, under the authority of Insurance Code Section 10089.3 and CCR 2695.42, require ". . training of insurance adjusters in evaluating damage caused by earthquakes and the procedures for reporting unaccredited adjusting." The initial reporting period begins January 1 and ends December 31. Annually insurers are required to submit to the CDI within 30 days of the end of the reporting period a list of any adjusters who have handled earthquake claims for them whthin the previous reporting period who have not been trained pursuant to Section 2695.42. The regulations require the insurer to list the name of each adjuster who has not received the training, their license number, and claim number for each earthquake claim they have handled. Adjusters handling earthquake claims are required to be re-certified every three years. If you are an insurer writing residential property coverage, it is essential to have your property adjusters who will be handliing earthquake claims trained before the next earthquake strikes!
